Retail analyst: What earnings are revealing about consumers

Executives from Traeger (COOK), Walmart (WMT), and The Gap (GAP) have all recently shared their takes on how the American consumer is faring.

Bernstein analyst Aneesha Sherman joined Morning Brief to discuss her outlook on consumer behavior.

Sherman highlights a "continued squeeze" on middle-income consumers. She notes this group is "being hit time and time again" by rising inflation, student loan payments, increasing credit card debt, and other financial pressures. With "no improvement in the overall sentiment," these consumers are forced to be more selective in their spending.
