Favourable Signals For Bastion Minerals: Numerous Insiders Acquired Stock

When a single insider purchases stock, it is typically not a major deal. However, when multiple insiders purchase stock, like in Bastion Minerals Limited's (ASX:BMO) instance, it's good news for shareholders.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Bastion Minerals Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Non-Executive Director David Nolan made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for AU$135k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.025 each. That means that even when the share price was higher than AU$0.0075 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when insiders have purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price.

Insider Ownership Of Bastion Minerals

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. It's great to see that Bastion Minerals insiders own 77% of the company, worth about AU$2.5m. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
