Dividend slashed to 18 cents, a 10% drop.
They should be giving us all their extra cash, not buying back shares, or anything else.
they need to enrich us, instead of finding ways to steal our money.
I wonder if this has to do with buying back their manager.
they spend millions they don't have, and say it will be cash positive in 7 years,
drop the dividend, and give themselves a stock bonus for allegedly saving money.
if anything, since they cut the dividend, they should cut their bonuses and cut their salary.

One way to gauge what the crowd thinks of AGNC vs. some of the other mREITS is to look at the holders tab and see who owns AGNC compared to who owns, say, NLY or CYS. While not scientific it does show how people and institutions are voting with their money. AGNC individual investors? One, in for 1000 shares. NLY? 5 holding enough shares to require disclosure. 3 above 100,000 shares including one above 1.5m shares. How about institutional holders. Look at AGNC's. Recognize any names there? Look at NLY and CYS (as examples.) Vanguard, Blackrock, State Street, Invesco sound familiar? Check out the top mutual fund holders of NLY. Now compare with AGNC. Hmm, none listed for AGNC, maybe the list fell behind the fax machine.
Not scientific but, well, maybe the longs here know something everyone else missed. Or not.

Kain said, due to the low interest rate environment, it made sense to reduce the dividend.
And yet interest rates have been low for a decade.
I believe they lowered it to pay for buying the management company.
And the analysts have seen that investors haven't bailed, so the plan worked, and the company
will keep more of its cash while we get less.
They had 2.4 billion in cash at the end of 2015.
What are they saving that for ?
